What is osteopathy?
Osteopathy is a drug-free, non-surgical treatment method that activates the body’s ability to heal itself. The Academy’s teaching is built on three principles:
- The body as a whole. All tissues are connected to one another; a problem in one area may affect another.
- The relationship between structure and function. There is a close link between the body’s structure and its function — when each tissue is returned to its anatomical position, normal function is restored.
- The body’s ability to heal itself. Manual techniques support and encourage these natural healing mechanisms.
