Compression of the sciatic nerve (sciatica) presents with sharp pain radiating along the low back, leg and buttock. Prolonged sitting, poor posture or vertebral problems compress this nerve, making even everyday movement difficult.
1Symptoms
- Pain and sharp, shooting sensations radiating into the leg
- Numbness and tingling
- Discomfort in the lower back and below
- “Dragging one foot while walking”
- Discomfort that gets worse when sitting
Sometimes simply moving is enough, but sometimes the problem is deeper — at the level of a herniated disc. The key is to understand the cause in time. With a combination of electrotherapy and physical modalities + rehabilitation + osteopathy, a solution without surgery is often possible.
