How safe is a trampoline for a child?

This pastime, which looks safe at first glance, can do serious harm to your baby.

Author: Dr. Elfana Suleymanova Medically reviewed

Children’s play centers with trampolines and mats have become widespread recently. We want to warn parents: unsupervised trampoline use without proper preparation places a serious load on the spine and joints.

In young children, the bones and ligaments are not yet fully formed. During uncontrolled jumping, the compressive load on the spine is many times more dangerous than in adults.

We look not at where the pain is, but at where it comes from.
